Affordable Housing and Community Engagement: A Busy Month with Debra Gardner

June 29, 20241 min read

This month has been filled with exciting events and important initiatives. From touring affordable housing projects to celebrating at the Blue Commonwealth Gala, Debra Gardner remains dedicated to serving the community and advocating for important causes.

Arbors on Hull Street Tour

Despite the heat, I had the opportunity to tour an affordable housing tax-credit property, the Arbors at Hull Street, in conjunction with the Virginia Apartment Management Association. This visit allowed me to meet with the developer, the management team, and interact with residents. We discussed the housing tax credit concept and its function in this project and other similar communities.

Affordable housing is crucial for our community, and everyone should have the opportunity to see firsthand how beautiful and beneficial it can be. The Arbors at Hull Street is a shining example of how affordable housing can be an asset to the community.

Blue Commonwealth Gala

Democrats are fired up for November! The Commonwealth Blue Gala held last Saturday was a celebration of our commitment to a brighter, bluer South. In addition to the fun and fellowship, we were treated to two amazing keynote speakers: US Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. This event was not only a celebration but also a reminder of the important work we have ahead of us.

Stay Engaged and Informed

These events highlight the ongoing efforts and dedication to improving our community and advocating for critical issues. I encourage everyone to stay engaged and informed about the work being done and the opportunities to get involved.
